Dataset Submission

Depositing your dataset

  1. Sign in or create an account

Go to Harvard Dataverse and sign in, or create an account.

  2. Open the journal collection

Navigate to the Journal of Horticultural Sciences Dataverse Collection.

  3. Create a new dataset

Select Add Data, then choose New Dataset from the menu.

  4. Describe the dataset

Complete the required metadata fields. Use the full article title; add all authors and affiliations; provide a contact, description, subjects and useful keywords.

  5. Connect the publication

Under Related Publication, add the associated article. If it already has a DOI, select DOI as the identifier type and enter the article DOI.

  6. Add and describe files

Upload the dataset files and give each file a concise, meaningful description.

  7. Save and enrich the draft

Select Save Dataset. To add more dataset or journal metadata, select Edit → Metadata, then save your changes.

  8. Submit for review

When ready, select Publish → Submit for Review. Journal editors will review the dataset and either publish it or return it for corrections.

Create a bidirectional link

Include the dataset DOI in your article, and add the article DOI to the dataset metadata. This connects both research outputs and makes them easier to discover and cite.
