Gladiolus, Flowering, CormAbstract
Variance analysis was made for 20 quantitative traits in 29 genotypes of gladiolus. High variation in terms of range was recorded for almost all the traits except days to sprouting, number of leaves, flowering duration, number of florets/spike, floret diameter, number of cormels/plant, number of corms/plant, and number of spikes/corm. Tallest plants (159.25cm) were recorded in the variety Windlin, early spike-initiation was recorded in 'Intrepid' (45.5 days), and the highest number of florets per spike was recorded in 'Hunting Song' (20). Maximum floret diameter was recorded in 'Senset Jubilee' (7.28cm), while spike yield was highest in 'Ballerina' (139.05 q/ha). Maximum number of corms per plant was recorded in 'Hunting Song' (3.0).
